General information

Animaga’s art competition is designed for people of all ages to enjoy and show off their creations, whether this is through watercolour, painting, digital painting and more.

There are three categories in our Arts Competition:

1. Fine Arts

Artists entering in this category is allowed to create their pieces before Animaga 2017

  • Entries must follow the theme for this year: Magical Girl
  • Example of Magical Girl:
  • Artworks need to be submitted in physical form to the Drawing Area at Animaga 2017
  • Any of the following media or techniques may be used for Fine Arts artwork:
    • Paint (watercolor, tempera, poster, acrylic, etc.)
    • Drawing materials (pencil, charcoal, colored chalk, pastels, oil pastels, colored pencils, markers, etc.)
    • Original digital illustration

2. Onsite Drawing

  • All entries to the Onsite Drawing category must be done on an Animaga provided A4 paper during the convention
  • There is no theme for this category
  • All entries must be competed with the resources provided by Animaga during the convention

3. Special Category: Mascots

  • One winner will be picked from each of the previous categories (finearts, onsite)
  • The artwork must feature one or both or our mascots: Annya and Maka

Other Rules and Requirements

  • Artwork must be an original piece, completed solely by the participant
  • Entries must be entered before 4pm Sunday, 17 September. No late entries are allowed.
  • Important: The artwork must not include pornographic, sexually explicit or suggestive material, violence or gore and/or racist material.


Judging Criteria

A selected committee will review artwork submissions based on the following criteria:

  • Interpretation of the theme
  • Technical skill
  • Originality

Submission of Artwork

  1. Bring your artwork to 2017 Animaga Drawing Competition table
  2. Our staff will register your details for the competition entry
  3. Put your artwork on the competition wall
